Mickey Mouse Academics

When I was in college over 30 years ago one of my friends referred to members of the other party as "Mickey Mouse Republicans", blindly marching in lockstep. At the time I was a Democrat, having been raised one, so I didn't think too much about it. But even then, political correctness was rising. One of its tenets was treating anyone anti-American as a victim, to be lauded regardless of the merits.

Now my own children are in college, and it has reached the point of absurdity, threatening to make liberal institutions, especially the elites, the laughingstock of society, if it hasn't already. Victor Davis Hanson offers this advice to clueless academics, who can't even find their own moral compass, let alone serve to guide their students:
Here's a simple tip to the clueless tenured class about why a Larry Summers or Donald Rumsfeld should be welcome to speak, and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad shunned: former Cabinet secretaries -- yes; homicidal dictators killing Americans -- no.
So I call them Mickey Mouse Academics. But their mouse isn't Disney's sunny one, it's the sinister mouse of terrorists.

Postscript Chris Muir's comics.
