In his latest saga, the Barack Waldo Obama campaign apparently lost the map and misplaced their Secret Service agents. NY Times on the Politics of Punctuality:
Soon was not soon enough for Kay and Tom Lammers, who were among the smattering of people who headed for the doors in the gymnasium of Kirkwood Community College. They said they had been told that Mr. Obama would arrive at 6:30 p.m. and it was already more than an hour later and still no sign of the senator.(They flew to Des Moines initially instead of Cedar Rapids.)As the Lammers zipped up their coats and walked away, a young campaign worker approached them and implored their patience. “We would love for you to stick around for five more minutes!” the aide said. “He’s on his way! He’s on his way!”
Here in Iowa, punctuality in politics can be important. As candidates are aggressively working to court voters, any slight – even appearing late at a rally – can turn off voters.
Will Waldo Obama lose out in Iowa? The Swamp picks it up here. Apparently Obama is taking the bus today, from Bettendorf. Better luck with that Barack.
