Illinoisans Want School Choices

The Illinois Policy Institute has released some startling numbers:
4 out of 5 Illinoisans are unhappy with their educational choices and would choose other options if they were available, according to polling results released today by the Illinois Policy Institute. The poll, commissioned by The Friedman Foundation, surveyed 1500 likely voters throughout the state addressing the status of Illinois schools. Strategic Vision, LLC conducted the poll on November 9-11 with a margin of error of 2.5%.

According to the poll results, 81 percent of parents would exercise educational choice options that provide alternatives to the current public school system. In addition, only 25% of the public rated Illinois’ public schools as “excellent” or “good.” Based on the findings, the Institute is calling on lawmakers to improve the education system by expanding our state’s existing choice programs and increasing public awareness of parental options.
Number one is lifting the cap on charter schools.
