A great man with a great conservative heart has died. I first saw William F. Buckley on Firing Line. National Review has been the biggest influence on my political life for 30 years, my spouse's for longer. We have the Blackford Oakes books in pride of place on the bookshelf. Our kids saw him lampooned on Sesame St., one of the few if perhaps the only conservative so recognized by the liberal PBS. I had the honor to hear him speak once, at a dinner remembering President Reagan.
He is gone, but the conservative legacy he did so much to create lives on.
