The capper came in December, when New York’s highest court ruled that a British libel judgment entered against Rachel Ehrenfeld, an American critic of the Saudis, would be enforceable even on U.S. soil because the court had no jurisdiction over the Saudi libel plaintiff and therefore couldn’t grant an order under the First Amendment protecting Ehrenfeld from the judgment. Which, in effect, meant that Americans no longer had free speech rights even in America, so long as their work ended up overseas and subjected them to suit there.A good day's work for the good guys. You can find her book here.
That disgrace has now been expunged:
The New York State Legislature today unanimously passed the “Libel Terrorism Protection Act” (S.6687/A.9652), sponsored by Assemblyman Rory Lancman (D-Queens) and Senate Deputy Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos (R-Rockville Centre)…
UPDATE: LGF on the Hamas front group, CAIR, which poses as a civil rights organization in the US:
MAYA Chicago, hmm? More here (note the testimony was in 1998, 4 yrs. after the first WTC bombing.)The Investigative Project’s mammoth report on the true agenda of the Council on American Islamic Relations continues, with the eighth installment: CAIR Has Backed Islamist Meetings, Denigrated Muslim Moderates.
* CAIR sponsored a 1994 U.S. tour by Jordanian Islamist leader Bassam Alamoush, CAIR News reporting that the group had coordinated a series of meetings for him with U.S. government officials.
During that U.S. tour, Alamoush called the killing of a Jew “a good deed.” In a speech at a MAYA conference in Chicago, he told his audience, “Somebody approached me at the mosque [in Amman] and asked me, ‘if I see a Jew in the street, should I kill him?’” He paused, then answered the question: “Don’t ask me. After you kill him, come and tell me. What do you want from me, a fatwa [legal ruling]? Really, a good deed does not require one.”
Jonah on Fitna:
The Darwin fish ostensibly symbolizes the superiority of progressive-minded science over backward-looking faith. I think this is a false juxtaposition, but I would have a lot more respect for the folks who believe it if they aimed their brave contempt for religion at those who might behead them for it.Related posts: More Islamofascist News, Islamofascist Media Briefs
