15 Seconds to Safety

15 seconds to safety. That's how much time the families of Sderot, Israel have to reach a safe shelter--children at school, those on their way to work, the elderly. Sirens several times a day, sometimes several times an hour--what country would not respond in defense of its people. No one should have to live this way.

Chicago rally for Israel, Federal Plaza this noon. There were messages of support from Reps. Mark Kirk (R-10th) and Jan Schakowsky (D-9th). Controller Dan Hynes was there as was state Sen. Jeff Schoenberg. The Israeli Consul General for Chicago Orli Gil spoke as well as religious leaders of local temples. More pictures. Heading in, on the street.
The plaza filled up quickly.

What if Hamas was in your neighborhood?
That's why Israel fights back.

Stand with Israel. Embrace a culture of life.

UPDATE: NBC 5 coverage. Pro-Hamas marchers, CAIR=Hamas, left from the plaza later this afternoon and headed north to besiege the Israeli consulate. Tribune.
