Another Promise Broken!

Not a shelter dog but a Kennedy breed! The First Dog is surely adorable but why not an abandoned pooch? Tribune
The housebroken puppy was named Charlie by his original owners, but Malia and Sasha Obama rechristened him Bo in honor of their cousin's cat of the same name. Their parents are said to call the dog "Diddley." Officially, the pup is registered with the American Kennel Club as "Amigo's New Hope."

Obama promised his daughters a puppy on Election Night, later saying the family hoped to adopt a low-shedding rescue dog because of Malia's allergies. While the Portuguese water dog fulfills the hypoallergenic coat requirement, it's debatable as to whether Bo meets the definition of a second-chance pet.
But no worries, the Obamas are going to buy the equivalent of pawprint credits:
The president and first lady reportedly plan to donate to the Washington Humane Society to underscore their original intentions.
And we give a nod to the president's courage in standing up to one set of special interests, even if he had to break a campaign promise to do it! Because who can turn down a Kennedy.
