Refreshing Results

An anti-incumbent, anti-tax message from local elections yesterday, refreshing in the corrupt and bankrupt state of Illinois. Perhaps there is hope after all.

And though the referendum was only advisory, northwest suburban voters resoundingly supported secession from Cook County. The response from Board President Toddler Stroger, who inherited the seat from his Dem machine daddy?:
"It's completely up to them if they want to rehash the sales tax of 2008. They know what services the county provides and they know what services they would lose if the sales tax was rescinded," said Stroger spokesman Gene Mullins.
Spoken by a man who believes his job is totally safe. Rolling back the sales tax might relieve us of the services of countless Stroger relatives and friends on the public payroll.

The Tribune has the second in its series of editorials on measures to root out corruption in Illinois. It looks like voters are on board--but what about state legislators?

Let them know what you think. This may be the only chance in our lifetime to clean up this state.
