Two Points

Per the police report, a neighbor saw the house door being forced. Um, that is why she called the police.

The house had been broken into before.

So--

What would you have thought?

What would you have done?

Shouldn't Gates have thanked his neighbor?

Shouldn't Gates have fixed his lock before he went off on his trip?

Shouldn't our President Barack Obama have learned the facts before he launched into his tirade against the Cambridge Police, calling them stupid?

More here. Audio of Sgt. Crowley interview.

And this: Obama Attacks Docs and Cops.

This is not the first time President Obama and his administration have demonized individuals for partisan political purpose--not other politicians, that's normal if not nice--but these are citizens. Is it just me, or does this creep you out, like we have some kind of third world dictator trying to distract people from what is really going on in the country--what next--death to Docs!?

P.S. The police guarding President Obama's own house in Hyde Park, not to mention the Secret Service guarding the White House have to wonder what he really thinks about them--will he have their backs when they put their lives on the line?

Dan Riehl, Obama destroyed his post-racial theme.

What would I know, I'm just a typical white person, but President Obama, why is your hope based on hate?

UPDATE: Obama fans the controversy, granting an interview to Nightline. Why is he doing this? Does he want to change the subject from healthcare, since he didn't make his case? And what do you think of this excerpt:
The president said he understands the sergeant who arrested Gates is an "outstanding police officer." But he added that with all that's going on in the country with health care and the economy and the wars abroad, "it doesn't make sense to arrest a guy in his own home if he's not causing a serious disturbance."
Is the President a police officer with a lot on his plate--or President. Maybe he should do his job and let other people do theirs. I swear it's another Carter deja-vu moment--what will he micromanage next?

Oh, and apparently Sgt. Crowley teaches a racial profiling class. Yes Mr. President, it looks like he is an outstanding police officer.

I would also add, I spent some time in Cambridge in the 70's. The Harvard Police, and the Cambridge Police, were very well-schooled, even then, at dealing with self-important people who take the greatest injury at the drop of a hat--at the dawn and birthplace of political correctness.

More: Oh, and the Boston Globe, you know, owned by the NY Times, scrubs the arrest report from its website. Newsbusters.

And Second City Cop:
We'll just note that the Obama-sponsored Traffic Stop Statistical Study (TSSS) here in Illinois that was supposed to prove institutional racism on the part of police departments across the state, proved only that police officers stopped lawbreakers regardless of race and that not a single instance of racial profiling was ever noted in the study.
Yes. I remember listening to the results for Wilmette at a board meeting and Wilmette's officers were shown to be professionals. As I recall, Northwestern University was involved in conducting the study.

More. Barack Obama, jerk. Yes.

Legal Insurrection, Et tu, Lynn Sweet? OK, maybe Kyle from my comments is right. Sweet is no big fan--he did stiff her for months. She's the court reporter for Michelle, but she's a Hillary fan from way back.
