A Patient-Centered Plan

UPDATE: ObamaCare sends deficits off a cliff. Heritage.Even the WaPo says the cost estimates on the bill are a fraud.***A common sense, workable, affordable alternative to ObamaCare. 32 state think tanks have banded together to present this, which includes lessons learned from Maine's disastrous healthcare plan. The Illinois Policy Institute's John Tillman was on WLS with Don and Roma this morning.

Remember--Democrat leadership is rushing to enact this into law, and it won't even take effect for 3 years--what's the rush? Get it right. The CBO numbers lowball the costs and there are many simpler, more effective fixes the Dems won't even consider. Like tort reform. Like letting us buy insurance across state lines. Like letting us choose only the healthcare we think we need--if we only want catastrophic and pay anything else out of pocket--why not? It will help keep costs down and broaden access. Like letting us own our own policy--so it's not tied to our employment.

In future, I think most parents will want to buy an insurance policy for their child at birth, right along with setting up their college savings account. But until we're there, we need something affordable and workable.
