I even wore a red sweater, hoping it might tempt Palin to sashay my way. She, of course, sported one of her trademark red tops, which, to these untrained eyes, looked like a kimono or a barong with a matching sash.

But, alas, I couldn't get within 10 feet of her. Media types were kept at bay. Indeed, unless you bought an advanced copy of her hot-selling book, you stood a better chance of crashing a White House party than cozying up to Palin.
