It was a happy morning. Greeting and thanking his first constituents as a Congressman, from his home base. I shook his hand and called him Senator. Jumping the gun a bit:)Kirk made a few remarks, among them that his first order of business will be to introduce a bill to cut spending, and he'll reinstate the Golden Fleece award. I remember it well from Sen. Proxmire of Wisconsin--the Senator who used to jog around my home state. Extending the tax cuts to help grow the economy are also on the agenda, as is the Small Business Bill of Rights.
People came from the surrounding towns--even someone from Evanston, who for the first time in many years will be represented by a Republican:)
