Choosing Up 2008

Sen. John McCain has announced his campaign team in the House which includes Illinois 10th Congressional district Rep. Mark Kirk. Hotline On Call. Hat tip ResPublica.

Gov. Mitt Romney spoke last weekend to conservatives at the National Review Conservative Summit (audio here), and is emphasizing his grassroots style.

Things have started moving so early that Rudy Guiliani seems late getting in with fewer choices for his campaign team, but his track record as America's Mayor is keeping him viable so far. Chuck Todd, National Journal gives a rundown of the Republican race, pointing out Guiliani may appeal to conservatives on "leadership and security", which may outweigh the social conservative issues. And he has a positive personality, as does Romney. But McCain is a force, and on national security he is a statesman, backing the surge to win in Iraq at some political risk.
