Sauerberg In Against Durbin

It's official, LaGrange family physician Steve Sauerberg is challenging Dick Durbin for his Senate seat. Crain's:
On his Web site, Mr. Sauerberg, 54, suggests Mr. Durbin is too liberal on subjects ranging from tax policy to withdrawing American troops from Iraq.

“Sen. Dick Durbin has been on the government payroll for the last 37 years,” Mr. Sauerberg says. “Quite simply, he is part of the problem in Washington, D.C. Mr. Sauerberg’s Web site indicates he favors tax credits and limits on malpractice lawsuits to make the health care system work better, wants flatter and lower taxes and opposes “amnesty” for illegal immigrants. On Iraq, he says he favors political and military benchmarks rather than a firm withdrawal deadline.

We look forward to a spirited race. Durbin had better not duck any debates or we'll think he's not playing fair.
