Ms Power told The Scotsman Mrs Clinton was stopping at nothing to try to seize the lead from Mr Obama. So Hillary's a monster, and Ahmadinejad is a pussycat.
"We f***** up in Ohio," she admitted. "In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio's the only place they can win.
"She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything," Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.
UPDATE from the Trib blog:
The second government witness was an FBI analyst who said his computer review of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's campaign records tied Rezko to more than $1.4 million in fundraising activity. That figure is nearly three times what Rezko had publicly acknowledged raising on behalf of the governor. And this:
Prosecutors have highlighted the fact that Rezko had no official position in state government yet had extraordinary access to Blagojevich. No Obama revelations there, but it does point to more activity and access to a public figure on Rezko's part than was publicly known before the trial. The prosecution in the Rezko trial does not mention Obama's name, while the defense does. And who will succeed Barack in the Senate if it comes to that? First, AP:
By contrast, Hamilton made no references to Obama, who has faced questions about Rezko's campaign donations during his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Obama has sent to charity $150,000 in Rezko-related campaign money to date but has been accused of no wrongdoing in the case. His name is expected to come up briefly, if at all, in testimony.
But chief defense counsel Joseph J. Duffy did bring up Obama during his opening statement, freely conceding Rezko had been a strong supporter of Democrats, including the Illinois senator, Blagojevich, the late Harold Washington - Chicago's first black mayor - and others.
The buzz continues about who would replace Obama in the Senate for Illinois should he win the nomination. Governor Infamous could appoint himself--the guy who's driven the state into the ground and is in jeopardy of going to jail himself eventually--an Illinois tradition.
As for other names being discussed, observers say Blagojevich would most likely choose someone from Chicago's congressional delegation because the state's senior senator, Dick Durbin, is considered a downstater.Another felicitous possibility Jan Schakowsky, my Congressperson, whose husband Robert Creamer was convicted of two felony indictments for tax violations and bank fraud. Creamer headed a non-profit that helped fuel her political rise and recently was hired by the Obama campaign to instruct impressionable youth volunteers.
Rahmbo might want to move up. And what to do about Lisa?
Topping the list of other possibilities is Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. From Blagojevich's political vantage point, sending Madigan to Washington could head off a possible 2010 gubernatorial challenge by the daughter of his political nemesis, House Speaker Michael Madigan. This just underscores the utter corruption and incestuous nature of the Dems who run Illinois and the Chicago of Barack Obama. It's a parade of horribles.
