Eco-Scamming

Global warming is a fraud, and we had best reveal it as such now before we pay an arm and a leg for eco-scams we can't afford.(especially given PE Obama's leftist environmental appointments, eager to engage in power-grabbing punitive measures) The Telegraph the other day headlined, "2008 was the year man-made global warming was disproved":

Looking back over my columns of the past 12 months, one of their major themes was neatly encapsulated by two recent items from The Daily Telegraph.

The first, on May 21, headed "Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts" , reported that the entire Alpine "winter sports industry" could soon "grind to a halt for lack of snow". The second, on December 19, headed "The Alps have best snow conditions in a generation" , reported that this winter's Alpine snowfalls "look set to beat all records by New Year's Day".

The supposed "scientific consensus" can't be papered over anymore, as reality intrudes:

After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.

Most of the information for the Arctic came from the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA) and a diagram from that report illustrates the problem. (see above) The very large area labeled “No Data” covers most of the Arctic Basin, an area of approximately 14,250,000 km2 (5,500,000) square miles). Remember, certainties of arctic ice conditions are core to Gore’s alarmism.

As regards global warming, my view is essentially the same as yours: Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is a scam, with no basis in science.

It is obvious that anthropogenic global warming is not science at all, because a scientific theory makes non-obvious predictions which are then compared with observations that the average person can check for himself. As we both know from our own observations, AGW theory has spectacularly failed to do this. The theory has predicted steadily increasing global temperatures, and this has been refuted by experience. NOW the global warmers claim that the Earth will enter a cooling period. In other words, whether the ice caps melt, or expand --- whatever happens --- the AGW theorists claim it confirms their theory. A perfect example of a pseudo-science like astrology.

In contrast, the alternative theory, that the increase and decrease of the Earth's average temperature in the near term follows the sunspot number, agrees (roughly) with observation. And the observations were predicted before they occurred. This is good science.

There's more, including background on Obama's new "science" czar John Holdren--a modern day Torquemada. (Holdren's a Harvard prof who politicizes science in the mold of Paul Ehrlich--whose notoriously wrong greenie text I was assigned there in the 70's.) Meanwhile, San Francisco Democrats fleece travelers at the airport--presumably well-heeled liberals, the only saving grace. (I would bet some of these entities sell their supposed carbon offset projects several times over.) But save us from all this self-serving eco-alarmism from the left--we can't afford any more eco-scamming--robbing our pocketbooks, our liberty, and our knowledge of science itself.
