Anne -

I just got off the phone with Bill Kelly, and it was, suffice to say, not a satisfactory call.

I have left the following comment on his "Truth Squad" blog, but I am not hopeful that it will survive his comment moderation filter:

A $5,000 contribution from Jack Roeser’s Renaissance PAC to Committee to Elect Paul Mitchell. Mitchell’s campaign manager, Lynn Thomas, pens a blog that has been deeply involved in the smear campaign against Kelly’s campaign.

Truth time, Bill!

Lynn Thomas is a part-time, unpaid volunteer for my campaign. She has been given the title "campaign manager," but in fact, I run my campaign myself. She has not been paid any amount by me for anything, and is in fact a contributor to my campaign. She didn't see a dime of the money my campaign received from RRP-PAC.

If you have a problem with me, Bill, talk to me. On January 9th, I offered to talk to you, and you weren't interested. Also on that date, I held a rally, which my campaign paid for, and let you speak there.

But Lynn was a blogger long before she volunteered for my campaign, her blog is her forum, and she didn't forfeit it when she stepped up to help my campaign. I would never have considered asking her to do so.

Once upon a time, Bill, you offered to help my campaign, too, through your ReformIllinois organization. The difference is, you didn't follow through, and Lynn did.

Cao's Blog does not speak for me or my campaign. I speak for me, here's what I have to say: I was a supporter of yours, but your campaign -- and no one else -- persuaded me that I shouldn't be. I've explained that to Steve Ruggiero, and offered to explain to you personally. But I have been cordial to you whenever we have met, and have not mentioned you on-line. Using me and my campaign in an effort to falsely prove a link between Jack Roser and Lynn Thomas' decision to blog about you is unfair, dishonest, and serves to benefit my opponent, who has a 100% pro-abortion voting record and recently told the press she'd be willing to support civil unions for same-sex couples.

If that sort of Topinka-like candidate is who you want to benefit, then by all means, carry on. If not, perhaps you could dial down the rhetoric, and focus on your opponents, as I am trying to do.

Well, thanks for clarifying Paul. You have always been a friend of mine.

There are some strange bedfellows in these races though. Why is Jack Roeser giving money to mushy moderate and Obama buddy Kirk Dillard?
