The Chicago Way's First Families

Two news items this morning illustrate the Chicago Way in action. The first is the Democrat Senate majority leader's son was arrested for drunk driving. That's bad enough but it's not the issue--which is that he was driving a state car.

At least it wasn't the Democrat House majority leader's daughter, who as a novice lawyer was given the Democrat nomination for Illinois Attorney General with his blessing, winning handily a few election cycles ago. She's unassailable there now, but does her performance warrant a Supreme Court slot? Do we want to enshrine the Chicago Way in our highest judicial body, even as gangster government has gone to Washington?

This sense of entitlement--the entitlement of the elite and politically connected--is profoundly un-American. Most Americans earn their way on their own merits, and most Americans applaud that kind of success. The Chicago Way's First Families shouldn't be encouraged further--in fact, we need to break up their influence.

Our impeached governor Blago married into one, the Mells. His trial this June may give us a bleepin' golden opportunity to bring government back to the people in this state. And give America a lesson in the Chicago Way that may bust the corrupt Dems' hold in November.
