Impetus for Illinois Republicans

Tom Bevan in the RCP Blog on the Obama ad testimonial by the former head of the DuPage County Republicans, state Sen. Kirk Dillard:
Mr. Dillard says he remains a "Republican stalwart" who is backing Arizona Senator John McCain for President. But in language reminiscent of the kind that has often gotten the original Maverick into trouble with his party, Mr. Dillard told the Chicago Tribune: "My caucus should thank me for the last 48 hours of media attention, whether they realize it or not."
Dillard is emblamatic of what has been wrong with the leadership of the Republican party in Illinois--indistinguishable from mushy Dems on many issues, and suck-ups to the corrupt Combine mentality. The other recent illustration of this cynical behavior is the ignoble exit to the Dems of the former Schaumberg Republican committeeman and state Rep. Paul Froehlich. Good riddance to RINOs. Join with the Do-Nothing Dem rats on that sinking ship in Springfield who can't even pass a budget.

We can only thank Dillard for illustrating this philosophical and ethical bankruptcy and inspiring heated opposition from real Republicans, which may be the impetus for reform desperately needed in the Republican party in Illinois.
