Fractured Rainbow

New members of the vast conspiracy against the Clintons--liberal members of their own party. In an editorial today, the WSJ calls it the VLWC. Bill Clinton on the stump in South Carolina. WSJ story:
Mr. Clinton -- not his wife -- has also been the one making headlines this week as the focus has shifted to a series of critical comments he has made of Mr. Obama, a practice the Illinois senator has characterized as "pretty troubling." Some prominent, neutral party leaders have reportedly contacted Mr. Clinton to express concerns that the attention being paid to intraparty fighting and his increasingly prominent role as chief antagonist to Mr. Obama would tarnish the party in a general election.
We feel your pain, Democrats:)

Peggy Noonan, "Breaking up is hard to do":
In Dillon, S.C., according to the Associated Press, on Thursday Mr. Clinton "predicted that many voters will be guided mainly by gender and race loyalties" and suggested he wife may lose Saturday's primary because black voters will side with Mr. Obama. Who is raising race as an issue? Bill Clinton knows. It's the press, and Mr. Obama. "Shame on you," Mr. Clinton said to a CNN reporter. The same day the Web site believed to be the back door of the Clinton war room unveiled a new name for the senator from Illinois: "Sticky Fingers Obama."
(Hmm, let's see, who carted out truckloads of antiques and gifts from the White House?) But this furious exchange is just the surface of deep fissures in the Democrat base--of issues unaddressed. Stephen Malanga, CityJournal: Black anger grows as illegal immigrants transform urban neighborhoods.
Terry Anderson is angry. From his KRLA-AM radio perch in Los Angeles, the black talk-show host thunders, “I have gone on the streets and talked to people at random here in the black community, and they all ask me the same question: ‘Why are our politicians and leaders letting this happen?’"

Fighting tooth and nail over victimhood. Fractured Rainbow.

UPDATE: E. J. Dionne, "Clinton's Depressing Assault on Obama", via RCP:

Let's grant the Clintons their claims: The press is tougher on Hillary Clinton than it is on Barack Obama; the old, irrational Clinton hatred is alive and well in certain parts of the media; Hillary Clinton gets hit harder when she criticizes Obama than Obama does when he goes after her.

Let's further stipulate that Obama's formulation -- he said Reagan "changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not" -- was guaranteed to enrage the former president. In Democratic circles, associating someone with Nixon is akin to a Roman comparing an emperor with Caligula.

None of it justifies the counterproductive behavior.
Well, let's hope no actual blood gets spilled.

The funny part is that they are arguing over Reagan, the mantle of his fresh, new vision for America. The truth is, the Democrats have no new ideas.

P.S. I imagine this will erupt in Illinois as well. We have Jesse Jackson Jr. for Obama, his dad presumably in the Hillary camp. Her campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle is from Chicago and has deep ties here. And Hillary's a suburban Park Ridge "farm" girl. Meanwhile former Clintonista and Dem House leader Rahmbo Emanuel continues to hide under his desk, trying to avoid the fallout.

P.P.S Ok, Rahm did tell Bill to chill.
