Obama the Phony Reformer

Undercutting Obama's argument that he is a national candidate--Obama's popular vote totals are heavily dependent on his home state of Illinois. From Fred Siegel's cover story in National Review's May 5th issue, Barack Obama, the phony reformer out of Chicago, one excerpt:

The gubernatorial candidate he backed, Rod Blagojevich, is now under federal investigation, in part because of his relationship with Tony Rezko, the man who helped Obama buy his current house.
The Chicago Way has delivered politically for Obama even this year. Ninety percent of his popular-vote lead over Hillary Clinton comes from Illinois, and two-thirds of that 90 percent comes just from Cook County.
An excellent article, with great quotes and background.

There is a movement to recall Illinois Governor Blagojevich, and talk of impeachment. (Dem talking point when in a sticky spot? "...a spokeswoman for the governor dismissed all this as designed to distract...") Here in corrupt Cook County some of us want to secede. Wouldn't it be great if we could succeed in that before November?

Real reform would be refreshing. But don't look for that kind of change from Barack Obama.
