He didn't mention it in the SOTU but he slips it in the budget--what a profile in courage.
It's an expense we can't afford as a country, it's a risk we don't have to take. Let's stick with Gitmo.
NYC has decided thumbs down on the expense of a KSM show trial there--it's not a good idea for the rest of the country either.
Even Democrat Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana expressed the common sense sentiment after the Holder debacle on the Christmas bomber:
--keep terrorist detainees at Gitmo and try them in a military commission--so we don't reward terrorists with a civilian trial for attacking us on our own soil.we ought to have three criteria — where can you try them quick, where can you try them as inexpensively as possible, and where do you not jeopardize American security any more than absolutely necessary.
And we ought to choose that location and that type of trial that accomplishes those things.
And let's not bring terror home to Thomson, Illinois.
P.S. In case we didn't know it already, David Axelrod is dangerously inept on national security. Stephen Hayes, TWS: Axelrod: "We Have Not Lost Anything" by Giving Abdulmutallab Miranda Rights. Andrew McCarthy, NRO. The President is rigging the numbers. (What a surprise)
More. Illinois Rep. Peter Roskam had it right:
"(Constituents) see it for what it is: Illinois become a dumping ground. This administration couldn't pull off getting us the Olympics so they bring us al-Qaeda,” Roskam said.
