How the Tea Party Won the Deal

This from lean left Peter Beinart:
While the details of the debt ceiling deal remain fuzzy, this much is clear: Barack Obama may be president, but the Tea Party is now running Washington. How did this happen? Simple; this is what American politics looks like when there’s no left-wing movement and no war.
Their left-wing is Barack Obama whether they like it or not.

And there's no money left for utopian leftist schemes. Nor do Americans appreciate an assault on their freedoms by this government, which treats them as the enemy every day.

During the debate in the House the other day a California Dem said Republicans wanted to go back to the 19th century. Well, the reigning ideologies of the left in the 20th resulted in the murder of more than a 100 million people between Hitler, Stalin and Mao.

Smaller government gives individual strivings and virtue room to breathe.

More. A Satan sandwichWSJ: Deal Bears the Unmistakable Stamp of Tea-Party Conservatives:
A bloc of first-year House Republicans, elected with the support of tea-party-affiliated groups last year, joined forces with a cadre of long-serving conservatives to make life difficult for House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) in his quest for a compromise deal with Mr. Obama. That opposition bolstered Mr. Boehner's argument that he didn't have much latitude to include new tax revenue in negotiations.
The courage of their convictions changed the debate. Now Dems must move to the center to support their president--putting a band-aid over the cracks in his "post-partisan" smiley-face lying leftie facade.

...And the president's point man on this deal, his emissary to Congress, is Joe the Biden, lately discovered charging the Secret Service rent on a cottage even as they protect him.
