These Democrats running like to talk about "the middle class" but it's hard to imagine comfortably sitting around the kitchen table with these two. I see an elegant Barack Obama lounging in the dining room and pontificating while Michelle breaks some plates offstage. And you gotta know laugh a minute, gaffe a minute blowhard Joe is really a get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed kind of guy--witness his unctous sucking up to Hillary supporters, but his wife's advanced degree was "a problem".
Then there's Barack Obama's spiritual mentor of 20 years, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who railed against "middleclassness", a code word in his racist mind for racism, as Barack presumably sat in the pews all that time. And Barack seems to have absorbed at least some of his message, contempt for much of middle class America, revealed at a smug liberal soiree in tony San Francisco. How does your radical and corrupt track record help America, Barack? How does your party treat hard working Americans?
John McCain's not so much a talker as a doer. He flew a plane in his youth and got shot down, was busted up and fought back to life. McCain prefers conversation to speeches. A town hall meeting is essential McCain--a love for America engaged in the public square.
So what about Governor Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin is the middle class. And she's all the more remarkable for that--a hard-working, charismatic and bright woman who had the guts and good judgment to challenge the business as usual crony capitalists and bureaucrats in her home state of Alaska and win. It's no wonder Dems are worried, as their boy-wonder Barack Obama never took on the Chicago Machine he's a part of in Illinois, has never run anything other than his own campaign. It's no wonder she's being smeared and sneered at in an unprecedented and vicious manner by the MSM, (ooh, WaPo's Kurtz is miffed she doesn't mention his liberal rag, wow Slate thinks a grammarian is what we want for president--let's consult the style book while we curse at high gas prices), beltway pundits of beltway ilk, Democrats and the Left who view her as a threat to all the elitist lunacy and corrupted power they hold dear. But then we shouldn't compare her to perfection personified Barack Obama...she's running for vice president.
Like most Americans, Sarah Palin sits around the kitchen table with her family--and then gets up and does the work of the day. And unlike many Americans, she can handle a storm-tossed boat and knows what it's like to live around a grizzly.
