That Bleepin Golden Senate Seat Again

I think he ought to stay away from this one. Politico:

Kirk already is popular in the politically competitive Chicago suburbs he represents and has a strong relationship with the state’s pro-Israel voters and donors.

His campaign did not respond to a query about whether he would welcome an endorsement from Jackson, who is the son of two-time Democratic presidential candidate Jesse Jackson Sr. The younger Jackson has been subpoenaed by defense lawyers to testify in Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s corruption trial after prosecutors alleged that Blagojevich wanted to extract campaign contributions from other individuals in exchange for appointing Jackson to a Senate seat.

I used to think better of Jesse Jr. until I knew more. He still looks good in comparison to his father.

What The Politico fails to mention is that Jesse Jr. is under federal investigation himself, independent of Blago's efforts to involve him in his defense. And Jesse has a worthy Republican opponent, the Rev. Isaac Hayes.

The best thing for Kirk would be for Jesse Jr. to stay neutral.

The only saving grace would be the continued outreach to the black community in Chicago. Republican leadership in the state legislature has allied with the Rev. James Meeks to tackle the moral issue of school choice--let's hope--one more time for the most crowded and failed Chicago public schools.

...And if you want your base energized, tread carefully.

OK, let's see the Dem "hopefuls" line up--who is least corrupt? Well, Rahmbo hasn't been subpoenaed yet, I suppose that gives him an edge. Makes a person want to take a shower to get clean. Bad idea, we know.
