On Wisconsin. Because we the people aren't gonna be milked as a cash cow by those piggy public sector money laundering union Dems any more.
I'll be pretty much offline this week but will most likely tweet here and there.
A nearly continual Boomer/Millennial conversation, mostly in my head... Talking across the fence: politics, markets, and the culture at heart
The road to economic growth and fiscal order requires ending all collective bargaining arrangements in all states...Government unions have no such narrative on their side. Do you recall the Great DMV Cave-in of 1959? How about the travails of second-grade teachers recounted in Upton Sinclair’s famous schoolhouse sequel to The Jungle? No? Don’t feel bad, because no such horror stories exist.

Who were being interviewed by mum MSM, as the hotel called the cops. It's private property but these are elected officials.
Got that?Hope video is forthcoming. Fodder for recall:) ARREST these guys! Ha. It's Illinois.TookieW Tookie Williams

At issue in Indiana are several bills, but primarily a so-called right to work bill that would give members of private-sector unions the right to opt out of unions and not pay dues.
I had to double-check to make sure the author of this Washington Post op-ed was, in fact, the Richard Cohen and not someone with the same name who works at the Heritage Foundation. It is indeed the proud liberal who is fed up with those fat-cat pensions at taxpayers' expense. In New York City, the No. 2 guy in the fire department retired on a pension worth $242,000 a year. In New York State, a single official holding two jobs and one pension took in $641,000. A lieutenant with the Port Authority police retired with an annual pension of $196,767, and 738 of the city's teachers, principals and such have pensions worth more than $100,000 a year. Their former employer, it goes almost without saying, is steamed. Their former employer is me.
Citing one outrage after another, Cohen then reassures his readers of his union "bona fides." But, he goes on, "enough is enough."
[Governor Scott] Walker is personifying the feeling of resentment and anger toward government workers who have so gamed the system that some of them retire on larger stipends than the average American makes in salary - and with health care, too.

Since they skipped across the state line Thursday to block a Republican budget plan, the 14 Wisconsin Democrats have gone into survival mode in Illinois, doing small loads of laundry and eating "whatever we can get our hands on." Whatever they don't have, they buy — nothing on the state's dime, they insist — or they get from relatives and staff who trek across the border.A refugee. One blink of an eye away from homelessness. On a "public servant" salary with benefits.
"Each day brings its own challenges," said Sen. Spencer Coggs, D-Milwaukee, by telephone. "Somebody will need an electric shaver or somebody will need provisions."
Coggs has had to purchase underwear, socks and T-shirts. His wife brought him more clothes over the weekend. Sen. Julie Lassa, D-Stevens Point, needed more contact lens solution.
"It's just roughing it, like staying in a college dorm all over again," Coggs said. "It's sort of like being a refugee."
For the first time in history, the average annual compensation for a teacher in the Milwaukee Public School system will exceed $100,000.***That staggering figure was revealed last night at a meeting of the MPS School Board.
The average salary for an MPS teacher is $56,500. When fringe benefits are factored in, the annual compensation will be $100,005 in 2011.
PatrickRuffini Patrick RuffiniIn what private sector job are benefits nearly half of salary? This is like moving stuff off books.
City Hall: Completed in 1911, this gorgeous structure is the perfect place to study up on Democrats asserting their will. And perhaps Mayor Daley will give them the tour he just gave Rahmbo.
“The graduation rate in Milwaukee public schools is 46 percent. The graduation rate for African-Americans in Milwaukee public schools is 34 percent. I would rather he fired all these Id.iot teachers and hire new non union ones. Anybody involved in a criminal conspiracy is a gangster, this is the most impressive thing any Governor has done in decades!”Chicago's graduation rate is a bit more than 50%.
At the heart of all this, Republicans and Democrats are realizing there might be a gap between them that is bigger than they realized. To Republicans, the budget fight has involved the widespread shirking of responsibilities: teachers walking out on students, legislators running away from their offices, even doctors abandoning medical standards to make excuses for perfectly healthy teacher/protesters. To Democrats, the fight has touched a core issue; anything is justified to preserve union benefits.Illinois held hostage. I'm rooting for Wisconsin. So should we all.
"Military planes are attacking civilians, protesters in Tripoli now. The civilians are frightened. Where is the United Nations, where is Amnesty International?" al-Warfali told Reuters.
Yeah, I'm sure our president Barack Obama is appealing to them now.
So we have the Chicago Teachers Union busing people up to Madison, while in Detroit they are broke in so many ways. Via Pundit & Pundette, Mark Steyn:As I said on Rush, unlike European cities, no bombs fell on Detroit. They did this to themselves. And the real rubble is not the ruined buildings, but the ruined people. This is an American city at the dawn of the 21st century, and one in two of its citizens are illiterate. That’s about the same rate as the Ivory Coast, or the Central African Republic, under its aforementioned cannibal emperor. Whereas in the Seventies and Eighties Detroit was ruled by a Democrat mayor, a bureaucracy-for-life, and an ever more featherbedded union army, all of whom cannibalized the city.Do we want the entire country to look like this? The battle is joined.

Governor Palin talked about the economy, the deficit, government spending, gun control, the environment, the rising cost of food, energy, Egypt and other foreign policy related issues. What did those who were all excited about all those supposed firsts by Governor Palin, decide to run with as their headlines? Let’s have a look shall we?Interestingly, she's continually won major polls from the base, but you wouldn't know it from the press coverage, or even some conservative sites. To name just a few:
CNN: “Palin talks 2012, mocks Michelle Obama”
Ben Smith: “Palin knocks breastfeeding initiative”
ABC News: “Sarah Palin on the First Lady: No Wonder She’s Telling People to Breast Feed, Price of Milk Too High”
Pioneer Press: “Palin follows Bachmann, criticizes Michelle Obama over breast-feeding”
Huffington Post: “Sarah Palin Bats Michelle Obama Breastfeeding Initiative”
It would have been one thing had it been true that Governor Palin actually mocked, knockedor batted the First Lady. As it turns out, not only did the media pick the most irrelevant part of the interview to run with but they also completely faked a controversy.
Full Long Island video here. One of her great strengths is her honesty. That's what America is hankering for these days.HeyTammyBruce Tammy BruceGirl Wins, Panic Ensues MT @neilflagg Yesterday Lowry was pimping NR poll; 2day he shut it down, no mention of resultshttp://bit.ly/gmOhW5
I would imagine after America's witnessing the events in Wisconsin this week the numbers are moving even more in the Tea Party, Palin direction. Most Americans (55%), however, think media coverage of Palin has not been fair and objective.
Only 37% say it's been fair. That most Republicans (70%) see bias is no surprise, but a majority of independents (56%) agree.[snip]
In summary, Americans do not believe President Obama has moved to the center, one of the factors behind the polarization in the country is the media's liberal ideology, and Americans believe Sarah Palin and the Tea Party are two of the casualties of that ideology.
